Video about “Raakajlim” - Mallee Conservation’s first sanctuary

Earlier this year we celebrated the completion of our conservation fence and the launch of Raakajlim as Mallee Conservation’s first sanctuary. We had lunch with lots of lovely folk, and ran bus tours of the property. We received excellent feedback and some good media coverage.

This short video has been created by the wonderful Angus Hamilton from Life Gone Wild. Angus has captured some great footage of the property, including some Mallee birds that rarely sit still for filming, like the Regent Parrot.

Please enjoy this video, share widely, and consider Angus if you need some wildlife filming or documentary making. Here’s the Youtube link

Our media coverage also included an excellent interview with some of our supporters by Kellie Hollingworth (ABC Mildura Swan Hill). Listen to the audio here. Highlights:

  • 1.58 Fiona Sherar from Carey Baptist Grammar (hilariously correcting my 300 versus 400 student blunder … )

  • 3.17 Matt Singleton from Odonata Foundation talks about the role of sanctuaries in the reintroductions of threatened species

  • 5.44 John Burch, Director of the Jesse Chaplin-Burch Trust discusses why the Trust supports Mallee Conservation

  • 7.70 Dr Anne Webster, Federal Member for Mallee discussing the Murray Darling Healthy Rivers Program
