Conservation fencing
We have completely enclosed the 490-hectare Raakajilm conservation property with an electric fence to manage grazing pressure.
We erected our first stretch of Westonfence back in 2014 to reduce grazing pressure from kangaroos. In 2022 we completed the 13-km long perimeter fence around the entire 490-hectare Raakajilm conservation property. This electric fence also excludes pigs and goats, their trampling, wallowing and eating! We have seen a huge response as grasses and rare plants return and habitat improves. Now we won’t need to individually guard every tree we plant!

Fixed the flooded fence
Way back in October 2022, the Murray River flood started to lap at the bottom of our fence. It took four months, and some clever trickery, but we are now back in business with our electric fence!

The fence is finished
After six months, we are pleased to announce that the fence is finally finished!
Fencing the Dunes
We’re building the final section of our fence. It is in steep sand dunes and is really tricky and slow-going. But we are getting there!
Fencing for pigs
Whenever it rains, pigs move through our property: trampling, wallowing and eating as they go. We won't see them for months, then overnight there'll be a smash-and-grab incursion. Our conservation fence, which is so nearly finished, will exclude pigs. Yay!

Funding to finish the fence
We’ve received funding to complete our 13 km boundary fence! This will protect our 490-hectare conservation property from over-grazing and damage by goats, pigs and kangaroos.
Fencing … for echidnas?!
In Winter 2020, we completed another 1.2 km of electric fencing, only 7.6 km to go. It’s a great fence for echidnas!
